Fur Collar with Brooch

Hello there! I cannot believe its been soooooo long since my last post.

Today's share is a cute little fur collar that I made for a Christmas present this year. I had made several of these last year but I have to say, I really love this particular "fur" the best, I thought the lines throughout the fabric really made it interesting.  I only made two of these this year, but would like to find some interesting black fur to work with, perhaps for next Christmas season.

The collar is lined with a soft wool fabric and the brooch is one of several I've been collecting over the last few months. One can never have too many brooches in their stash, they are great for collars, purses, or even their intended purpose, on the lapel of a coat :)

Thanks for dropping by and Happy Sewing :)

Fabric Pins

Hello there! Its been forever since I've posted on my sewing blog! I've been busy in the sewing room making aprons; I finally finished the Four Points apron, I just need to get a good picture of it. Not sure how to do that either as I don't have a dress form and the pics I took of the apron on my DD just didn't turn out so back to the drawing board on the photography of larger items!!

This cute pin is also featured on my stamping blog. I used the Big Shot and the Flower Fold die to cut out the flower shape and hot glued these together. You could also sew them, which I would if I was putting them on a scarf or something but for now the glue gun worked okay.  I'm really happy to be back into sewing as its been awhile since I used my machines.  I also made a skirt, which I'm really happy with although the matching top was an nightmare!! I'll post the skirt one day soon and share my sad story of sewing with this beautiful and frustrating fabric I had chosen. Never again!! :-)

I'm working on an apron for my MIL and hope to have pics of that soon as well.  The pattern I'm using is the Flirty Skirty apron, its so cute!!!

Well, off to run some errands, thanks for dropping by.

Fur Shawl Collar

Hi there! I thought I'd best get a picture of this shawl collar scarf before it gets sent out with the post. I spent a fair bit of time in my sewing room in early November a made a few of these furry shawl collars. I just love how it feels underneath my wool coat, so warm & cozy. The collar scarf itself is made of faux fur and lined with the softest of wools, charcoal in colour. Its held together with a magnetic snap and the Vintage pin is just for decoration.

Thanks for dropping by

A bit of Sewing and Stamping!

Hi there! Today's post features a cute little makeup tote I stitched up for a Christmas gift. I've made several of these bags, which were fairly quick & easy. Inside I've tucked a jar of a homemade Pedicure Creme which is just wonderful for the tootsies this time of year, especially with this cold dry weather we've been having in Alberta. It was -33 degrees this morning on my deck, yuck!! I love Winter although I do have to say this weather is a little chillier than I would prefer! But, with the freshly fallen snow it really is starting to feel like Christmas!

Thanks for stopping by!

Another Market Bag

Hi there! Sorry about the bag placement in this photo; I have to find a better place to photograph my projects now that the weather has turned nasty. With the snow and all today, well outdoor photography just wouldn't have worked too well!! If I can, I'll get a better picture tomorrow, showing both sides of the bag and edit this post. :-)
I have been busy working on my Christmas gifts and recently finished this market bag for my Mother In Law. I changed up the pattern a bit and added a magnetic snap closure to the inside. I am going to add a button to the center of the pleat at the top, I will have to purchase this as I don't really have a close enough match in my stash (Imagine that!!) This is only the 2nd item I've ever quilted so please don't look too closely!! :-) I really enjoyed making this and hope my MIL likes it as well.
The fabric was part of a Charm Pack I recently purchased at the Creative Stitches Expo in Edmonton. I had a great day there but spent more money that I should have!! :-) Now I have to get busy and make all the goodies I brought home with me!!
Thanks for dropping by and enjoy your day.

Cloudy Sky!

Hi there! Well, I'm no further along on my project posted below, but I did want to post this picture of the "pretty" sky spotted out our great room windows the other night! Wow, it certainly did look like it might turn ugly. Thankfully, just a bit of rain and it went on its way, but I'm sure to the North, or NorthEast of us they enjoyed a little more rain than we did. We got a downpour yesterday and its nice to see everything finally greening up though. There's a reason we left Kamloops, I'm just not a fan of the desert! Nice to visit, but too hot and dry for me. However, at least they are getting some sort of summer, compared to our Alberta non-season here!! :-)
I've been busy in the stamp room, coming up with Scrap projects and a Christmas in July or August workshop for the ladies. I would love to find time to get back in the sewing room too, as I have projects I am starting for Christmas. And, if you know me, July is the perfect time to be starting these projects, it gives me just enough time to finish them for the Holiday Season! lol
Thanks for stopping by and I'll be sure to post the finished apron when I finally get there. Its so close, I should get busy..... :-)

Work In Progress!

Hi there! I've posted a picture of an apron that I'm working on, its called a Four Squares Apron by Vanilla House Designs, picture to the right. Its been a fairly quick and easy pattern to follow and I think its going to be really cute when finished. I just need to find matching buttons for the flip over and the apron.
I've also been working on a Bath Bag, using the same fabric. For the price of enough fabric to create my apron, I've also been able to make a Bath Bag, which I'm hoping turns out great and I can use for a Christmas present. I just love being able to make full use of all my fabric and not having too many scraps, it just feels good!! Scraps are great, but I do tend to forget about them or when I want to use them, there don't seem to be enough matching scraps to create much of anything! I know, I know, said by a person who isn't much of a quilter but tries to be!! Quilters love their scraps!! Right?? :-)
I'll post the apron when I finished, as well as the Bath Bag. Hope you are well and enjoy your day!!
